Concept of prototype flexible smartphone
The research group Human Media Laboratory at Queen’s University, which in Kingston, Canada, demonstrated recently working prototype flexible smartphone. And let this piece of iron apparently little resembles a handheld gadget, but with the task the demonstration opening at the same time opportunities copes to cheer.
A new concept of flexible smartphone called ReFlex supports data input by bending. The prototype uses theflexible OLED display, manufacturing company LG Display, which has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. All electronics are hidden on both sides of the screen. On the back side of there are sensors determining the degree of bending. The smartphone runs on Android 4.4.The user controls the application for reading e-books, just bending the phone in different directions. At the same time the more bent the screen, the page will turn over faster. Another example: the similar way the device can be used in the game Angry Birds – controlling the degree of tension of the propellant harness bending.
Thus, using a feedback mechanism in ReFlex, the user can literally control your smartphone with your eyes closed. Developers believe, that the flexible smartphones to hit the market within five years.
